STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Strength and Conditioning (S&C) is a subject of increasing focus, particularly in areas of applied scientific study such as sports performance, injury prevention, geriatric and rehabilitating populations.

Sports Direction can provide schools and individuals with the whole process from start to finish. Planning and preperation is crucial when part-taking in S&C, this is so that injury is prvented and maximum performance is obtained by all individuals.

These are a few of the areas that our S&C department cover:

- Conditioning for Boxing

- Weight Lifting

- Personal Training

- Diet/Nutrition

At the highest level of most sports, S&C is used to benefit the athlete in many different ways. Some sports like 'Rugby' focusses the strength and conditioning in all parts of the body however dependant on the position of the athlete this can vary. For example a winger/full back would focus a lot of their personal training programme on sprint training and leg weights to improve speed/agility and so that when embracing contact, the winger/full back have a better chance of breaking the tackle.

Other sports like 'Gymnastics' are slightly different to contact sports because their body will not be going through anywhere near as much physical contact as a footballer/rugby player, this is due to the enviroment a gymnast would be in and type of activity gymnastics is.
